Week 7: Design proposal 1

Client Story of proposal 1:
The client is requiring the double house sharing with the business partner, who is also an art lover and sometimes open up part of the house for extra artwork display with the artwork collector. Also, both of the occupants require living areas in the house, therefore living requirement should be satisfied other than the space could probably open up to public, which means public-private zones locations are extremely important. These clients require separated spaces for their own usage rather than interrupted with each other. However they don't mind a sharing garden- where they could probably see each other and have conversations with each others.
Due to the relationship between these clients, the double house is necessary to have balanced functional spaces in both sides.

Project One FINAL: Part b

"PART AND WHOLE"
Axonometrics with two colours annotated are showing the vertical circulations and the relationships between the routes and the whole building. As going up, the ramp are affecting larger spaces of the building and mostly are public zones while the stairs are always related to the more private zones of the house and is not tend to have views and lighting changes. The transparency along the ramp is created by the framing of view and lighting conditions.
ANOTHER TWO ASPECTS:

Four by four square grid system based columns. Creating a free plan to provide free movement inside the house. Providing a free horizontal circulation along the main axes-ramp, balances the usage of the house.

Psychological relationships are created by different lighting conditions of the house. Three main lighting sources are affecting the whole house: Natural light directly from the sky, Morning sunlight, and the light through glazing and reflection from the space besides. Two or more lighting sources the space is gaining, the more tend to be a public zone of the house.

Project One FINAL Part a: Plans, Sections, Axonometrics, views and experiences

Axonometrics are alternatively changed in a different direction from previous weeks'. These axonometrics are showing the ramp experience more clearly than before. The routes are related to different spaces in the house, which means there are different experiences through the two routes. The plans can show the relationship between the vertical circulation and the whole house and the connections to spaces.
The views and experiences shows the views changing in different point along the ramp.

The three plans below the section are the plans that  my model based on. I've cut the house into a small part- to have both the ramp and the stairs. As located in the center of the house, the ramp is more important than the stairs in terms of experience changes. From blocked to open, from dark to light, is the experience that Le Corbusier wanted to express. Therefore, other than showing the whole house, the three cut parts are more tend to concentrate on the vertical movement routes. The section is the strongest expression of the circulation through the ramp- from ground, to roof, continuously, yet changing experiences.

Week 3: Axonometrics(Experiment)

I tried to do Axos to show the vertical circulation throughout Villa Savoyr, instead of horizontal circulation on each floor plan. However, these Axos turned out not good- although showing the ramp and stairs at the same time, the circulation on the ramps seems like leading people walk into blocks, which is not a perfect expression for the relationship between circulation and viewing.
